Our Robots

2024 – Into the Deep

Limelight dove into the deep world of custom-designed parts this season with a functional and durable “super-structure” water-jetted out of aluminum. Weighing in at under 25 pounds, Britney glides across the playing field, using Limelight’s first belt-driven drivetrain. However, the drivetrain is not the only thing that’s fast; with a set of three 1150 RPM motors geared at a 1:2 ratio driving her linear slides, and a chain-driven shaft that pivots the arm, Britney can grab samples anywhere in the submersible, and fill the top chamber with ease.

2023 – Centerstage

Limelight’s first robot! Russ went through many iterations before looking like beautiful bot you see here! At the core of the design is a two-joint arm controlled by two 312 RPM motors, each controlling different joints. With a custom-designed nylon-carbon fiber printed intake that grabs pixels at any orientation, and a consistant rubber band drone launcher, Russ never loses the spotlight! In endgame, the arm takes on a new role; its hooks pull Russ off the ground and into a 30 point hang.
