About Us
Welcome to Asheville Robotics! We serve students with a passion for STEM, and a motivation to learn and grow.
We are not affiliated with a school, and our doors are open to all students in grades 4-12, regardless of their school affiliation. Our mission is clear: to get students excited about robotics, and equip them with the necessary skills to succeed in any field. We do this through our FIRST Tech team Limelight for students in grades 7-12, and our other FIRST Lego League team for students in grades 4-8. We are also gauging interest for a FIRST Lego League explore team as well. If you are interested in joining, or getting involved in any way, contact us!
Our Teams
We have two teams competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge and the FIRST LEGO League Challenge. Our FIRST Tech team Limelight was our first team to compete in 2023, and they’ve taken home six awards home including Judge’s Choice at States! Our FIRST LEGO League Challenge team launched in 2024 to an amazing rookie year! We are currently gauging interest in a FIRST LEGO League Explore team (ages 6-10), so if you have a student interested, let us know through this form.
What is FIRST®?
FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a global organization dedicated to inspiring young people to explore the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on robotics challenges and competitions. Founded by inventor Dean Kamen, FIRST offers a progression of programs designed to engage students of all ages and skill levels.
At Asheville Robotics, we proudly participate in FIRST programs, including the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) and the FIRST LEGO League (FLL). These programs provide students with opportunities to design, build, and program robots to compete in exciting challenges that test their creativity, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills.
